Imicus, WTB's favourite metal band, released their new single on their newly signed to label Transcent Records yesterday. We caught up with guitarist Dan Baker to find out what's occurring.

WTB : So tell us a bit more about the single.

DB : The single's called "Visceral". It was written a while back and is a fan favourite so was the obvious choice for our first release on Transcend Records. We had it mixed and mastered by a guy called Neil Haynes at Parlour Studios.

WTB : So where can we get our grubby mitts on it?

DB : The single is available on itunes, HMV and Amazon. You can also get a hard copy of the single with added tracks at live shows.

WTB : And where can we catch you live?

DB : We're booking gigs again like mad, check our myspace for details, but highlights include Hellfire Festival 2 at the NEC with the likes of CKY, Saxon, Anvil, Exit Ten, Senser and others. Also Hard Rock Hell 3: The Vikings Ball with Monster Magnet & Terrorvision.

WTB : We've already seen a sneak preview of the video for "Visceral", it's really good, and it's even more impressive that it was all done on a budget of £1000. What made Imicus choose the production team to make the video, did it come down to the fact that they could work to your budget or was it more down to reputation?

DB : We looked at a few production companies to produce the video but the quotes we received back for what we wanted were pretty expensive. We weren’t expecting it to be free but the prices seemed a bit too steep. I was then contacted by an old friend who has set up his own production company up in Leeds. After seeing his previous work we were keen to get the ball rolling and he came up with a few ace ideas that fitted our budget. So i suppose we were driven by budget and reputation.

WTB : You recently recruited a new guitarist after the departure of Billy. How hard was it for new guitarist Lee to go straight from joining the band to being in the Imicus "Visceral" music video? And how did it feel for the rest of you having to form that band connection really early on for the video?

DB : We auditioned Lee two weeks before the video and he joined the band about 3 days before we shot it so it must have been pretty daunting for him! It did feel a bit strange that he was only recruited that week and having him in the video before we’ve even gigged together was a bit risky. He fitted in instantly though and has since brought some great ideas to the table so everything has worked out. Find out more about Imicus at the following links :
